"Jinta," the whale shark kept at the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, will mark 30 years in captivity on Tuesday, March 11 of this year. We are pleased to announce that we have planned exhibits and various events related to Jinta’s time at the aquarium.

"Jinta" History Panel Exhibition

Contents The results of research and studies, as well as the history, gained through the breeding of "Jinta"
We'll introduce them through videos and display panels.

A docent will provide a special commentary using the screen at the “Sea of the Kuroshio” large aquarium tank.

Jinta Coloring Page Exhibition

Contents As part of the “Traveling Jinta Project*1,” we are exhibiting coloring pages of the whale shark “Jinta” created with the help of children from hospitals and special education schools across the country. Please enjoy these unique and creative works.

*1 What is the “Traveling Jinta Project”?
This project, commemorating the 30th anniversary of “Jinta”’s care, has been underway since April of last year. Over the course of a year, a life-size Jinta tapestry is touring the country in a relay-style format, primarily visiting 13 hospitals and special education schools nationwide that participated in the “Remote Learning” educational outreach program.
On Wednesday, March 5, from 2:40 p.m. to 3:10 p.m., we will livestream online for the children at hospitals and special education schools across the country who submitted “Jinta coloring pages.” The livestream will feature the “Jinta coloring pages” on display and show Jinta being fed a Jinta cake made from krill.
