On Okinawa’s main island, the ocean and beaches are most beautiful in the northern part; otherwise, the outlying islands are at their most stunning on sunny days. For a classic attraction, I recommend the “Churaumi Aquarium.” For a cultural experience, try “Okinawa World,” and if you’re a history buff, “Shuri Castle Park” is a great choice.

There are indoor attractions to enjoy, such as “Okinawa World,” which features a limestone cave, and the fully indoor “DMM Kariyushi Aquarium.” Even outdoors, there are spots that have a special atmosphere precisely because of the rain, such as the “Bise Fukugi Tree-Lined Road (Motobu),” “Yachimun no Sato (Yomitan),” and “Yachimun Street (Naha).” We also recommend trying local cuisine and indoor hands-on craft experiences.

It’s great to have everything in one place! Ocean Expo Park, home to the Churaumi Aquarium, has a large lawn and playground equipment where kids can play. Similarly, Cape Zanpa Park in Yomitan Village is also highly recommended.

Unless other companies are running exceptional promotions, the best deals for the Churaumi Aquarium are available at “Onna Station Nakayukui Market” and “Roadside Station Kyoda.” You can also save money by using discount tickets from Klook, Asoview, and Jalan. There are historical sites where you can experience the history of the Ryukyu Kingdom, such as the “Shuri Castle Ruins (Naha),” “Zakimi Castle Ruins (Yomitan),” “Nakagusuku Castle Ruins,” “Nakijin Castle Ruins,” and “Sefa Utaki.”

"American Village" is a great place to visit any time of year. "Kokusai Street" is also a good choice. "Koza Crossroads," the downtown area of Okinawa City, has a unique atmosphere. I think the "Murasakimura Lantern Festival" held in winter is a sight you don't often see even on the mainland (outside of Okinawa). I also recommend gazing at the starry sky or taking a guided tour.

For scenic drives on Okinawa’s main island, check out the “Kouri Bridge,” the “Underwater Road,” the “palm-lined road on Route 58 in Kadena, surrounded by U.S. military bases,” the stretch of Route 58 in Onna Village just before the Renaissance Resort, and the “Nirai-Kanai Bridge.” Taking a loop around “Senaga Island Umikaji Terrace” is also a great idea! And don’t miss the “Irabu Bridge,” “Ikema Bridge,” and “Kurima Bridge” on Miyako Island—they’re absolutely unbeatable.

If you’re staying in Naha, I recommend visiting “Kokusai Street,” “Shuri Castle,” and “Yachimun Street.” You can also take a taxi or bus to “Senaga Island Umikaji Terrace” and “American Village.” My personal favorite plan is a day trip from Tomari Pier to Zamami Island or Nagannu Island. The contrast between Okinawa’s urban areas and the beautiful ocean you see right away is absolutely amazing.
