After the 2023 Naha Marathon, I was looking for a place to stay when I discovered that the Orion Hotel Naha (now the Ryukyu Orion Hotel Naha Kokusai-dori) had just reopened following a renovation, so I decided to stay there on a room-only basis.
A welcome beer is provided, and drinks are also available in your room. There are delicious restaurants within walking distance of this hotel. Although it’s located along Kokusai Street, it’s at the far end, so getting around by car is relatively easy.
The hotel opened in 1975 and was rebranded on October 1, 2025, becoming the Ryukyu Orion Hotel Naha Kokusai-dori. This article is a review of my stay there when it was still called Orion Naha.
Orion Hotel Naha (Now: Ryukyu Orion Hotel Naha Kokusai-dori) Stay Report
The Hotel's Atmosphere
The entrance has undergone a major transformation, giving the building—which used to be an old hotel—a completely new look.
The refined design following the renovation is quite striking. The first floor used to have a real “old-fashioned” feel to it, after all.
After check-in, bath salts were available at the amenity bar, and there was a service that allowed guests to fill small bags with their favorite scents to take home.
Guest Rooms
I think I stayed in the 23-square-meter Orion Modern Twin room (to be honest, I was so tired from the marathon that I don't really remember which room it was, lol). It was much more spacious and comfortable than a typical business hotel.
The in-room fridge was stocked with Orion Beer, Orion WATTA shochu highballs, and water. I had dinner with my running buddies that night, but I couldn’t resist and downed an Orion Beer right away. It went down a treat.
Orion Bar
I was able to enjoy the welcome beer I received at check-in. It was a great feeling to be able to drink Orion Beer, which isn’t sold in stores. On the left is Orion The Craft Pale Ale, a fruity flavor exclusive to Orion Naha. On the right is Orion The Craft Weizen, a slightly bitter beer also exclusive to Orion Naha. We’re amateurs, so we didn’t really understand the differences, but it was a great experience to try these limited-edition beers!
There are several barrel art pieces on display, allowing you to enjoy the luxurious experience of ”drinking Orion at Orion.” It’s like drinking Orion at the Orion Beer Factory.
Shop
There is an official Orion shop inside the hotel, where you can find T-shirts and other items featuring Orion designs. Its extensive selection makes it easy to find the perfect souvenir.
My Thoughts on Okibura
Although the hotel had been completely renovated, the bathroom and toilet seemed to be the same old combined unit as before. Since I was exhausted from the Naha Marathon and basically just used the hotel to sleep, it didn’t bother me much, but next time I’d like to give myself a little more time to relax and enjoy my stay.
What left a particularly strong impression on me was the bar’s atmosphere, which prominently features the Orion brand. The experience of enjoying limited-edition beers available only here is a special one that’s hard to find anywhere else.
While the hotel’s restaurant looks great, there are also plenty of delicious dining options of various types within walking distance. To make the most of your stay in Naha, we recommend dining out to enjoy local flavors and then having a drink at the hotel bar.
