Frequently Asked Questions and Important Notes (Activities)
What happens to my reserved activities in case of rain or a typhoon?
For outdoor water sports and similar activities, if the shop determines that safety cannot be ensured due to inclement weather or deteriorating sea conditions, the tour will be canceled or moved to an alternative location. If the decision to cancel is made by the organizer, no cancellation fee will generally apply, and a full refund will be issued.
When participating in water activities, are swimsuits and towels available for rent?
While specialized equipment such as wetsuits, life jackets, and snorkels is usually included in the tour price (or available for rent), you’ll need to bring your own swimwear—which comes into direct contact with your skin—and a bath towel to dry off after the tour. Be sure to check the “What to Bring” section on the plan details page.
Can I go snorkeling or diving even if I'm not a strong swimmer?
Yes, anyone can participate. Since you’ll be wearing a wetsuit and a life jacket, your body will naturally float, and the instructor will pull you along using a float to support you. As long as you can keep your face in the water, you can enjoy the beautiful underwater world even if you can’t swim.
Are there any water activities that young children and babies can participate in?
We offer activities such as glass-bottom boat rides—which are suitable for babies as young as 0 years old—and water play sessions at beaches with calm waves. Additionally, if you choose a private plan where you have an instructor all to yourselves, you can safely enjoy the ocean at your child’s own pace, making it highly recommended for families.
Can I participate in water activities even while on my period?
As long as you have no health concerns, you can participate in snorkeling or diving while using menstrual products such as tampons. If you have any concerns, please consult the shop directly when making your reservation; they can provide appropriate advice regarding the boat’s restroom facilities and other matters.
Can I go in the ocean while wearing contact lenses or glasses?
You can dive while wearing contact lenses (disposable soft lenses are recommended) and a mask (goggles). If you wear glasses, you’ll need to remove them, but many reputable shops offer “prescription masks” tailored to your vision for rent.
Is it true that there are days when you can't visit the Blue Cave?
Yes. The Blue Cave is vulnerable to north winds, and waves tend to get rough, especially during the winter months (around November through March). For safety reasons, there’s a higher chance that boats won’t be able to depart or that a “red flag” will be raised, prohibiting swimming. If the trip can’t proceed, it’s common to switch to activities like snorkeling at a nearby calm beach.
Is transportation provided to the activity meeting point?
This varies depending on the shop and the plan. While some plans include free shuttle service to hotels located within designated areas close to the shop—such as Onna Village or Naha—the most common style for activities in Okinawa is to rent a car and drive directly to the location (such as a port or beach) for a “meet and depart on-site” arrangement.
Can you go in the ocean even in winter? Isn't it cold?
Even during the winter in Okinawa (December through February), the water temperature remains around 20 degrees, so you can enjoy snorkeling and diving if you wear a thick, well-insulated wetsuit. You’re more likely to feel the cold when you get out of the water and are exposed to the wind than when you’re actually in the water, so it’s a good idea to choose a shop that rents out boat coats.
By when should I make a reservation?
During peak seasons such as Golden Week and summer vacation, as well as for private rental plans like “one group per day,” reservations may fill up several months in advance. We recommend booking your activities as soon as possible once you’ve finalized your flight and hotel arrangements.
