Uneven cobblestone pavements mark the history of the "Pearl Road".

Kanagi-cho Ishidatami, Shuri, Naha City, Okinawa, Japan Sightseeing Spots

This road was once part of the Pearl Road, the main road leading from Shurijo Castle to the southern part of the city. A section of approximately 300 meters that escaped damage after the war still exists in Kinjo Town.
Ryukyu limestone 20 to 30 cm in size is used. The natural unevenness of the rock creates a charming atmosphere. The steep slopes have anti-slip lines and stairways, showing the ingenuity of the time.

While walking along the Shuri Kinjo-cho stone-paved path, there is one place where you should definitely stop and take a picture. This is the point where the stone daring pillar stands.

The townscape spreads out at the end of a gentle descent, and the traditional stone walls, red-tiled roofs, and blue sky make this a photo spot where you can take a picture filled with "Okinawan-ness".

We recommend natural poses that capture a moment from your walk. We encourage you to take a picture here for a perfect memory of your trip!

Touching the cobblestone streets and learning with children

Kanagi-cho Ishidatami, Shuri, Naha City, Okinawa, Japan Sightseeing Spots

The Shuri Kinjocho stone-paved path is located in a quiet residential area with very little traffic. You can walk it even with children. The experience of "walking so as not to slip" on the uneven cobblestones may be a fun experience for young children.

However, care should be taken on rainy days as it becomes very slippery. Sneakers or non-slip shoes are recommended.

Be careful of slipping on rainy days! Dress and shoes for safety!

This area is surprisingly angled and hilly. The cobblestone paths are uneven and can be slippery when wet. When walking, it is best to wear non-slip sneakers or trekking shoes, not heels or leather shoes.

While rainy days make the scenery moist and magical, be sure to stroll safely first.

7 minutes walk from Shuri Castle! Better access on foot than by car!

Naha City, Okinawa - Shuri Castle Park

It takes about 7 minutes on foot from Shurijo Park to Shuri Kinjo-machi Stone Paved Street, and since the walking route is available on Google Maps, you can extend your visit to Shurijo Castle by walking directly along the street.

The road is narrow and winding, and although it is possible to drive through, parking space is limited and you end up walking again, so walking from Shuri Castle is recommended.

A walk through history healed by tranquility and elegance

After we finished our visit to Shuri Castle, we headed directly to the cobblestone streets on foot. Once we stepped out of the bustle of the tourist area, we were immediately struck by the quietness of the place, and the view of stone pavement and old houses jumped out at us. We also found a cute shisa like the one in the photo.

If you wander around this area, you can stop by "Uchikanejotake," a large redwood.

It was a place that would be a picture if a father and mother walked together!
