One of the largest swimming pools in Okinawa Prefecture will open on the same day! In addition, the "Sailing Sabani Riding Experience" event will be held to experience the traditions of Okinawa firsthand.
Ryukyu Hotel & Resort Meijo Beach (Meijo, Itoman City, Okinawa Prefecture; General Manager: Kento Sato), a luxury beach resort located in the southern part of Okinawa's main island, will open the 1.8 km-long natural white beach "Meijo Beach" and six swimming pools, the largest in the prefecture, for swimming from Friday, March 14, 2025. In addition, from March 14 (Fri.) to 23 (Sun.), a variety of events will be held as "Sea and Pool Opening Week," including "Sailing Sabani Ride," a traditional culture unique to Itoman City, and free marine activities for guests only, so that they can experience the history and culture of Okinawa and its beautiful sea.
Ryukyu Hotel & Resort Meijo Beach is located in a rich natural area within a national park. Meijo Beach, which stretches out in front of the hotel, is a scenic spot loved by the locals for its beautiful multi-layered blue color. This year marks the third anniversary of the hotel's opening, and we have prepared special events to celebrate the "opening of the sea and the pool" so that more guests can enjoy the beach. The events include a traditional "sailing Sabani" ride on the beautiful blue waters of Meishiro Beach, a thrilling dragon boat ride free of charge, and a seasar painting experience for children to enjoy the summer in Okinawa.

On the day of the ocean opening, we will hold a "Shinto ritual" to pray for the safety of the ocean and for our guests to enjoy the beautiful ocean safely and securely. Special events will then be held to commemorate the opening of the ocean and pool.

Itoman City, which has long flourished as a town of "Uminchu" (fishermen), has been using small wooden boats called "hukake Sabani" for fishing since the Ryukyu Dynasty era. The pool area, one of the largest in Okinawa at 10,000 square meters, offers six different types of pools, all of which will be open for business upon the opening of the ocean on Friday, March 14. The pools include a flowing water pool with a water slide, a large ocean-like ocean pool, and an indoor pool that can be used regardless of weather conditions. The pools are for the exclusive use of hotel guests, allowing them to relax and enjoy their time at their leisure.
