One of Okinawa Prefecture’s largest pools opens on that same day! In addition, an “Sabaní Sailing Experience” event will be held, allowing visitors to experience Okinawan traditions firsthand.
"Ryukyu Hotel & Resort Meijo Beach," a luxury beach resort located in the southern part of Okinawa Island (Meijo, Itoman City, Okinawa Prefecture; General Manager: Kento Sato) will open its 1.8-kilometer stretch of natural white sand beach, “Meijo Beach,” and its six types of pools—among the largest in the prefecture—for swimming starting Friday, March 14, 2025. Additionally, from Friday, March 14, through Sunday, March 23, the resort will host “Beach & Pool Opening Week,” featuring a variety of events exclusive to guests. These include the “Saban Boat Sailing Experience”—a traditional cultural activity unique to Itoman City—and free marine activities, allowing guests to experience Okinawa’s history and culture alongside its beautiful ocean.

Ryukyu Hotel & Resort Meijo Beach is located in a nature-rich area within a national park. “Meijo Beach,” which stretches out right in front of the hotel, is characterized by its beautiful layers of blue and is a scenic spot beloved by locals. As the hotel celebrates its third anniversary this year, we have prepared special events to commemorate the “opening of the beach and pool” so that even more guests can enjoy their stay. We’ve put together a lineup of activities that let you enjoy Okinawa’s summer a little early, including a ride on a traditional “Hokake Sabani” boat at the shallow, beautifully blue “Meijo Beach,” a free, thrilling dragon boat ride, and a Shisa painting workshop that you can enjoy with your children.
Special "Beach Opening Week" Events to Be Held from Friday, March 14, to Sunday, March 23
On the day of the beach opening, we will hold a “Shinto ritual” to pray for safety at sea, asking that all our guests be able to enjoy the beautiful ocean safely and with peace of mind. Following that, we will host a special event to commemorate the opening of the beach and the pool.

To commemorate the start of the swimming season, we are hosting a special event where you can board these historic “Hukaki Sabani” boats.
