Tomigushiro City Okinawa Soba & Sweets Teichi

Teichi, located in Tomigusuku City, Okinawa, opened in July 2024 as a cafe run by a local mango farmer.

The name "Teachi" means "one" in the Okinawan dialect, and the restaurant was named with the aim of becoming "the best store in Okinawa," "the best garden in Okinawa," and "a place that brings people together.

The beauty of the garden, the relaxed Okinawan atmosphere, and the set menus and sweets made with local ingredients, make it a place filled with warmth and attention to detail. This café is perfect for those who want to spend a relaxing time while feeling the nature and culture of Okinawa.

A quiet entrance with beautifully landscaped gardens

Upon entering the grounds of Teachi, the first thing you see is a beautifully landscaped garden.

The space with its cobblestone pavement and plantings looks like a Japanese garden, and the moment you pass through the gate, you are enveloped in an extraordinary tranquility. It is an open and soothing space that makes you want to take a stroll before entering the restaurant.

An overwhelmingly spacious and relaxing space with an Okinawan feel

The restaurant is more spacious than one might imagine, and is equipped with not only table seating, but also private rooms and spacious tatami rooms. The restaurant is attractive because it is designed so that even those with children can relax without hesitation.

Furthermore, a Buddhist altar with a closed door is placed in the tatami room, preserving the traditional Okinawan house culture. This is a point not easily noticed by tourists, but it is also a space where visitors can casually experience local culture.

A new proposal of Okinawa soba and fruit sweets that can only be found here

This time, we both ordered the set meal menu. The set menus include a main menu, a choice of sweets, and a choice of drinks. Those who choose soba from the set meal menu can choose the type and amount of noodles! It is a fun set meal menu to choose from!

Nakamuduchi Soba Set Meal, gently reconstructing local flavors

Tomigushiro City Okinawa Soba & Sweets Teichi
This original soba is a combination of the traditional Okinawan soup and inamuduchi. Inamuduchi is a white miso paste, but I think it is more like dried bonito. I think so! The soup is surprisingly mild, aromatic, and relaxing. It goes well with the chigere noodles and is perfect for those who want a solid meal.

With the set green tea rare cheese cake tart (+100 yen) and sampincha tea, this set meal can be enjoyed carefully to the end.

A new type of curry soba set meal that blends sweetness and spice

Tomigushiro City Okinawa Soba & Sweets Teichi
For some reason, I sometimes feel like eating curry soba! The chigiri noodles made by Terudomei intertwine well with the rich broth. The spiciness is moderate, making it easy for anyone to enjoy. If you want to make it spicier, we recommend you to arrange it with kohlra goo or shichimi (seven spices).

The set also includes a rich cheesecake and a coffee float, and the portions are generous.

Review of Okibara

Tomigushiro City Okinawa Soba & Sweets Teichi

Teachi is a café that gently conveys the nature and culture of Okinawa and is unique to the local mango farmers. In addition to the elaborate set menus and sweets, the space itself is also deeply cared for.

The concept of the store is "the best store in Okinawa, the best garden in Okinawa, bringing customers and artists together". Indeed, such "connections" are casually scattered in the carefully maintained garden, Okinawan art in the adjoining gallery, and textile dyeing and weaving works created by students.

There is also a slightly mysterious "weird room" at the back of the gallery, which might be interesting to peek into. It was a place where one could experience a unique time, where each piece of art was made with a special attention to "one".
