On October 29, 2026, Ken Hotel & Resort Holdings Co., Ltd. announced that it will hold the “Moonlit Wonder Illumination 2026–2027,” a light display featuring approximately 300,000 lights, at the “Ryukyu Hotel & Resort Meijo Beach” in Itoman City from Sunday, November 1, through Sunday, February 28, 2027. A seven-day fireworks display is also scheduled from December 25 to 31.
This event, which began so that visitors could enjoy the evenings even in winter in Okinawa—when swimming isn’t possible—is now in its third year. It’s reported that over 110,000 people, including hotel guests, attended the past two editions. This year, the event will feature a new selection of music, and the light and sound show will be even more spectacular.

■Key Points
- Approximately 300,000 lights will illuminate two areas on the hotel grounds (the main area, approximately 4,000 square meters, and the pool area, approximately 10,000 square meters).
- A light show featuring seven songs by famous artists synchronized with the 34-meter-wide “Ryukyu Castle” at its center
- From December 25 to 31, enjoy seven consecutive days of fireworks with “Festival of Light ~THE HANABI 7DAYS~”
- Live performances will be held on Saturdays in December, as well as on Christmas and New Year's Eve; on the 24th and 25th, you can also have your picture taken with Santa Claus.
- In November, this is for hotel guests only. Day visitors can enjoy it starting in December.
■Two Illumination Areas
The Main Area, Where the Moon Temple "Ryukyu Castle" Shines
In the main area of the lawn, a sea of light stretches out, rippling like waves. Standing at its center are the 34-meter-wide “Ryukyu Castle,” a temple dedicated to the moon, and a phoenix with its wings of flame spread wide. As the lights come on, a sound performance begins; this year, a total of seven songs will be featured, including tunes that evoke the spirit of Okinawa and movie theme songs.

The pool area with its corridor of light
A corridor of light stretches through the pool area—one of the largest in the prefecture—where motifs of marine life, such as sea turtles and stingrays, guide visitors to the main area. The light rippling across the water’s surface and the illuminated fountains are also highlights. This year, sculptures of marine creatures with floating bubbles have been added as new photo spots. There is also a “carriage of light” that visitors can step inside to take photos.
