As a couple who loves traveling to Okinawa, the event we’d definitely recommend this spring is the “Yachimun Market at Gala Aoi Umi.” It will be held over two days—Saturday, April 19, and Sunday, April 20, 2025—at the popular “Gala Aoi Umi” in Yomitan Village.
Gala Aoi Umi is located just a short distance from Hotel Nikko Alivila and Banta Cafe by Hoshino Resorts!
What is Yachimun?
“Yachimun” is the Okinawan word for "pottery." The warm, inviting designs and comfortable-to-use pieces are sure to warm your heart just by looking at them. It's a hugely popular event that draws crowds of tourists and locals every year.

For works by particularly popular artists, many people line up early in the morning. When we went last year, there was already a line an hour before the doors opened!

The venue is "Gala Aoi Umi" | With ample parking, getting there is a breeze
Gala Aoi Umi is a seaside tourist facility located about an hour's drive from Naha Airport. It has a spacious parking lot, so you can easily access it by rental car.
The scenery is also amazing, and it’s a real plus to be able to relax and gaze out at the ocean while you’re out shopping. There are cafés and workshops scattered throughout the facility, so you can stop by while sightseeing and enjoy a meal—another great attraction.
Plenty of food options! Enjoy Okinawan cuisine at food trucks and food stalls.
At the Gala Blue Sea Yachimun Market, there’s more than just pottery—there’s also a wide selection of food trucks and food and beverage vendors. You can enjoy local flavors like hamburgers, taco rice, and smoothies while you shop.
There are many families with children here, and choosing pottery while sampling food as you walk is truly one of the highlights of a trip to Okinawa. It’s also a lot of fun to stroll around with your spouse, discussing things like, “Which one should we get next?”
