The Ryukyu Onsen Senagashima Hotel, where we actually stayed, is located just a 15-minute drive from Naha Airport, but offers the extraordinary experience of a remote island resort. The guestrooms we stayed in had open-air baths with free-flowing hot spring water, and in front of us was the East China Sea and the runway of Naha Airport. The meals were exquisite Japanese-Ryukyuan creative cuisine full of Okinawan flavors. In this article, we will introduce the charm of this hotel based on our own experience!

Relax in a blend of Japanese and Western-style guest rooms
This time I stayed in a "Japanese/Western style room with open-air guest room with fountainhead outdoor hot spring bath/ocean view". The room was a modern Japanese-style space with a bed on Ryukyu tatami mats, which gave me a sense of calm. The bed throw was made of Bingata, which gave the room a more Okinawan feel.
From the open-air bath on the balcony, you can see both the ocean and airplanes, and this is what I mean by forgetting time. I still cannot forget the view, especially at sunset. At night, while soaking in the open-air bath, the sounds of waves and airplanes are the background music for a luxurious moment. The hot spring water was so comfortable that I felt the fatigue of the trip gradually dissipate. It was a time that could only be experienced here.
The amenities were well stocked, and I had no particular problems! Personally, I was happy to see that the hotel clothes were separate from the nightclothes. It was really relaxing to be able to hang out inside the hotel in the hotel clothes. It's the best.
A view you don't have to be an airplane enthusiast to be enthralled by.
To be honest, I was not that interested in airplanes, but to see the moment of landing right in front of me was breathtaking. It was also interesting to see the flight route change depending on the wind direction, and I felt as if I was watching an airplane show.
Walking around Umikazi Terrace after check-in
It is also nice to know that the famous sightseeing spot "Seagashima Umikaji Terrace" on Seagashima is within walking distance for a stroll. It has been a while since I took the time to stroll around Umikazi, but there are more photo spots and some exciting tricks for tourists, which I enjoyed even though I am a resident of Okinawa Prefecture! It's also nice to wander around the cafes and souvenir stores before dinner at the hotel!
Superb resort time spent at the pool
The infinity pool is a spectacular view itself. The design makes it look as if it is one with the ocean, and swimming in it gives you the feeling of being under the sea. On the day I visited, the wind was calm and the time spent swimming in the sunshine was most relaxing. You can also watch airplanes take off and land, so you will never get bored while lounging by the pool. The pool is designed to be safe for children, and it has a resort-like atmosphere that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Floats are also available for free!
Luxurious dinner using Okinawan ingredients
Dinner is a "Kwachi-gozen" course. Dishes such as Japanese black beef fillet and Ise lobster are prepared with the best ingredients. I was impressed by each dish, which was carefully prepared in a Japanese style similar to that of a ryokan. The restaurant is located right next to the pool, and it is also a great place to enjoy a spectacular view during meals at sunset.
Breakfast is a healthful "Sechozen
Breakfast is not a buffet, but a Japanese set meal style. There was a choice of white rice, Chinese porridge, or rice gruel, with Kazunari having white rice and Son-chan having Chinese porridge. The number of items was not too many, but the perfect balance of satisfying and filling. It was great to have breakfast by the pool with a nice breeze.

Review of Okibara
Ryukyu Onsen Senagashima Hotel is located near Naha Airport, yet offers an extraordinary experience like a remote island resort. The ocean view from the open-air baths in the guest rooms, the dynamic view of airplanes taking off and landing, and the carefully prepared cuisine that makes the most of Okinawan ingredients. The hotel is packed with "Okinawan time" that can only be experienced here. This is probably the only place where you can enjoy an open-air bath in a guest room, an ocean view, and a view of airplanes!
