The star of the show here is “Fresh Brown Sugar”—made by the owner, who carefully selects the brown sugar and then, after an order is placed, boldly shaves it off in large chunks right before your eyes.
The aroma that fills the air the moment house-roasted coffee meets freshly grated brown sugar is pure bliss. It has become a popular destination for both tourists and locals on their drives through Nakijin.

The shop primarily operates on a takeout basis, so while there isn’t a large dining area inside, there is a small outdoor seating area where you can sit for a while. You can relax with a freshly made drink in hand while enjoying the pleasant atmosphere of Nakijin. During busy times, the shop uses a ticket system, so you can relax in your car while you wait—which is a nice perk.
When we actually visited, everything went smoothly—from placing our order to receiving our food—but when we went back on another day, there was a huge line, and I think we probably waited about 10 to 20 minutes.

Since it’s mainly a takeout spot, it’s perfect for staying hydrated while driving. With a numbered ticket system and well-organized operations, you can visit with confidence even when it’s crowded. This is a must-visit spot on any sightseeing route through northern Okinawa. Just be sure to allow plenty of time for your visit!
